Companies such as Nippi Collagen, DSM, Sabinsa, Bayir Inc. and others made recent announcements boasting their new awards, certifications and patents.

Nippi Collagen received Non-GMO Project Verified status, verifying the non-GMO status of Nippi's TruMarine™ Collagen and giving Nippi the right to use the well-recognized logo issued by the Non-GMO Project, a highly-regarded non-profit organization committed to preserving and building the non-GMO functional ingredient supply. The Non-GMO Project Verified seal indicates that the raw material bearing the seal has gone through the rigorous process which includes traceability and testing of major ingredients at high risk for GMOs throughout the supply chain to ensure ingredient integrity through to the finished product.

In addition, DSM earned recognition as the Company of the Year by the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA). The award recognizes DSM’s halal compliance, implementation and program of label control for halal logo and markings. The number of halal consumers is increasing and has now reached 1.6 billion, making halal food, beverage and dietary supplement products one of the fastest growing consumer segments in the world. DSM has liaised with halal certification bodies to develop and implement a halal policy and management system to ensure its nutritional ingredients meet the stringent halal requirements. 

Sabinsa Corporation and its sister company Sami Labs Limited (Bangalore, India) added four new U.S. patents to their portfolio. These most recent patents include U.S. patent 8383594, accorded to the invention titled “Peptides modified with triterpenoids and small organic molecules: synthesis and use in cosmeceuticals;" U.S. patent 8394852, for the invention titled “Inotilone derivatives as coherent biological response modifier (cBMR);" U.S. patent 8853407, a process patent for the synthesis of 4-aryl 4-acyl piperidine, its salts and analogs using indium metal; and U.S. patent 8987212, Sabinsa’s second patent for its triterpenoid peptide product OLEPENT®, which claims therapeutic efficacy in effectively reducing skin wrinkling through anti-elastase activity.

Bayir Inc.’s key facility in Bangalore, India, received NSF GMP certification (number C0217775-01). Bayir's manufacturing plant is multi-functional, and is also ISO 22000:2005 certified., as well as certified by ANVISA Brazil, Hamburg Germany and Drug Controller of India. All the company's facilities are audited and approved by several key international clients and organizations.

More awards were presented as DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company LLC announced the winners of the third annual Zemea® Innovation Award program. The award for consumer products went to the MARBERT® line of cosmetics and personal care products, which was developed by Straub GmbH, Wertheim, Germany. Two winning entries were selected for the Zemea® Innovation award for personal care ingredients. The winners include: Bio-Botanica® Inc., Hauppauge, New York, which developed ZeaBotanicalsTM , a collection of more than 140 different botanical extracts based on Zemea; and CAM-D Technologies, Essen, Germany, which launched a line of solid CAMDsorb® Odor and Pollutant Absorbers that are used in personal care and home care applications.

BI Nutraceuticals also achieved a significant milestone since launching its Protexx HP® Green Steam™ sterilization method 13 years ago, announcing that it has treated 75 million kilos of material. Protexx HP Green Steam remains the industry’s only species-specific, organic steam sterilization method.
