LONGMONT, Colo.--On June 1, Horizon Organic Holding Corp. announced its acquisition of England-based Meadow Farms Ltd., which includes a processing and packaging plant. According to the company, this move will provide a platform to build brand recognition and position in both the United States and United Kingdom.

Meadow Farms, with sales of approximately $24 million per year, produces private label organic milk and accounts for more than 60 percent of total organic milk sales in the U.K. Horizon Organic will continue to supply private label products while building relationships for introduction into the U.K. Jeremy Deacon is the managing director on the European side of things, who led Horizon Organic in acquiring Rachel's Organic earlier this year.

Who will benefit most from this acquisition? "Our product does really well with young mothers," said Chuck Marcy, Horizon Organic's president and CEO. "Kids like the happy cow logo [on the package]." For additional information, visit www.horizonorganic.com.
