PavichFamily Farms Files Chapter 11

TERRABELLA, Calif.--Dateland Vineyards, also known as Pavich Family Farms, filed avoluntary petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 4 in the U.S. BankruptcyCourt in the Eastern District of California in Fresno. Chapter 11 is thereorganization chapter available to businesses that have sufficient assets andincome to restructure and repay their debts. Under Chapter 11, creditors vote toaccept or reject a reorganization plan, which also must be approved by thecourt.

           The case has been assigned to Judge Brett Dorian in Fresno, and the firstmeeting of creditors is scheduled for Nov. 13, 2000. John Eleazarian, a Fresnoattorney, is representing Pavich in this case. At press time, calls to Pavichfor comment had not been returned.
