Lallemand Probiotic Earns NuW Award

MONTREALLallemand joined the ranks of NuW Excellence Award winners this month for its Probio'Stick, a probiotic product for stress relief. The Canadian company, which focuses on creating yeast and bacteria products, won the Health, Immunity and Digestion Innovation of the Year category, presented the Health Ingredients Europe in Frankfurt.

"By recognizing Lallemand for ProbioStick  we are awarding a company that have the guts to try a new position for probiotics in the light of the current regulatory regulation," said Peter Wennstrom, the judge chairman. "They are developing the area of physical and psychological stress and the gut/brain relation, with clear innovative steps."

Probio'Stick combines Lactobacillus Rosell-52 and Bifidobacterium Rosell-175 and the Probiocap microencapsulation for a probiotic stress reliever.

Other winners in this year's NuW Awards include Norwegian krill company Olympic Seafood, and Naturex for sustainability.
