LONDON—The European market for vitamin B represented US$534.1 million in 2005, and should reach US$1.12 billion in 2010, according to new research from Frost & Sullivan (www.food.frost.com). However, the market is seen as highly saturated without scope for growth and innovation, as it is increasingly commoditized by less expensive Asian ingredients and products, which are narrowing profit margins and intensifying price pressures. Frost suggested European-based companies need to explore developing technologies to reduce production costs to address the Asian competition and remain competitive in the global market.
