PURAC Marks 50 Years In Brazil, Implements New Packaging System
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill.PURACcelebrated its 50th anniversary in Brazil and successfully implemented a newpackaging system for liquid products in its factory in Gorinchem, TheNetherlands.
In 2005, PURAC sínteses celebrated its 50th year in Brazil. Milestones from the companys 50-year history include the1955 establishment of the companys Campos do Goytacazes, Brazilbased chemicalplant, IQSF, which began producing lactic acid; the 1962 entry of the Dutch company HVA into the Brazilianlactic acid market; the 1965 renovation of IQSF; the exportation of the firstproducts to the United States two years later; the 1970s installation of thecompanys lactylate production unit and launch of heat-stable lactic acidmanufacturing at the plant; and the tripling of production capacity during the1980s.
The company also successfully implemented a new packagingsystem for liquid products in its factory in Gorinchem. The new system includes a packaging area for fluid products,designed to comply with all current food and pharmaceutical regulations. Whereasthe systems predecessor included some manual packing, the new system iscompletely automated. The new process will give PURAC the opportunity toincrease the accuracy of filling weights, improve efficiency and quality, andgain flexibility in the final steps of its production process, the company said.
