BANGALORE ,India Natural Remedies recently completed a clinical study on GutGard, a flavonoid-rich deglycyrrhizinated standardized extract of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) recommended for gut health. The double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study enrolled subjects with functional dyspepsia symptoms (upper abdominal fullness, upper abdominal pain, belching, bloating, early satiety, regurgitation, heartburn, loss of appetite, etc.). Study subjects received either GutGard (75 mg twice daily) or placebo for 30 days.

The individual and total scores of all symptoms (as measured by seven-point Likert scale) in the GutGard-treated group, after 15 and 30 days of treatment, were found to be significantly decreased when compared to placebo group. Similarly, the GutGard-treated group showed remarkable improvement in global assessment of efficacy and quality of life (as measured by short form Nepean Dyspepsia Index) in comparison to the placebo group. GutGard was found to be safe and well tolerated by all subjects.

We are very excited about the clinical results, said H N Shivaprasad Ph.D., head - international business of Natural Remedies. For those marketers requiring the highest level of human research, we believe GutGard represents the Gold Standard among clinically proven gut health ingredients.
