Nestlé Overhauls Toll House Cookie Dough

CHICAGONestlé USA announced it will use heat-treated flour in its Toll House refrigerated cookie dough, months after it temporarily pulled the product off store shelves after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered E. coli contamination.
As reported by Reuters, Nestlé will halt production at its Danville, Va., plant from Jan.13 to Jan. 25 to convert the plant to use heat-treated flour.
In June Nestlé issued a June 19 recall on all varieties of Nestlé TOLL HOUSE refrigerated Cookie & Brownie Dough Bar; Cookie Dough Tub; Cookie Dough Tube; Limited Edition Cookie Dough items; Seasonal Cookie Dough and Ultimates Cookie Bar Dough after the FDA and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned consumers not to eat any varieties of prepackaged Nestlé Toll House refrigerated cookie dough due to the risk of contamination with E. coli.
