IRVINE, Calif.--Collagen II Nutrition issued a clarification concerning a Customer Advisory Notice distributed by InterHealth USA in late January. According to Collagen II Nutrition (www.kolla2.com), the makers of Kolla2™ chicken collagen, the statement could be misinterpreted that Collagen II Nutrition was making misleading statements regarding its products and research.

In a letter (dated Nov. 7, 2001) attached to its clarification, David Trentham, M.D., indicated to Collagen II Nutrition that he would be proceeding on a clinical study on Kolla2 and osteoarthritis. "In early January 2002, the professor advised Collagen II Nutrition that he would be unable to move forward with the project due to his commitments to other projects and a potential conflict of interest," the clarification read. Trentham has since been working with InterHealth on studies with its UC-II™. Collagen II Nutrition's study is now moving forward with a different, Harvard-trained rheumatologist who Trentham recommended.
