PLAINSBORO, N.J.Firmenich inagurated its new state-of-the-art flavor encapsulation facility at Karawang International Industrial City, near Jakarta, Indonesia, on Oct. 25. The new $30-million facility will be dedicated to the production of the company's proprietary flavor encapsulation technology, Durarome®.

"We are thrilled to be here in Indonesia today and moving forward into the future," said CEO Patrick Firmenich. "This is evidence of the importance that the Firmenich Group gives to new emerging markets."

The new facility will strengthen the companys market leadership in the flavor encapsulation technology and support its global strategy to invest as closely as possible to its customers to help them deliver the best product and increased value to their customers.

Aldo Uva, president of the company's Flavors division, said: Strengthening our operating capacity is a fundamental step to helping our clients generate value for their consumers, at the right cost and with the right level of service. We are committed to the food and beverage industry and the consumers in this significant region."

Firmenich has been present in Indonesia since 1994; however, this is the first time the company has established a production site for Durarome outside the Americas. The company will also launch a new variety of Durarome to be produced at the new facility; a high-load Durarome aimed at applications requiring greater flavor intensity while still requiring a very cost-effective flavoring system.
