Natural Products INSIDER publisher Informa PLC, one of the world’s leading knowledge providers to individuals, businesses and organizations, entered the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) Global and European Indices, ranking the company among the top 10 percent of all sustainable large companies in the world.
This achievement marks considerable improvement for Informa, which ranked among the top 30 percent of sustainable large companies for a decade prior. In 2018, the company was named an Industry Mover to recognize its improvement over the past 12 months, and, in September, achieved member status with DJSI.
"It is a fantastic achievement and testament to considerable work and progress in a range of areas—from event operations to facilities, customer relations, cyber security, colleague engagement, procurement, production, tax, health and safety, compliance and many more," said Stephen Carter, group chief executive of Informa PLC.
Sustainability at Informa focuses on its long-term impacts on a broad range of stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, colleagues, the communities it works in and with, and the environment.
The company produces its biggest impact and positive change through content: the data, intelligence, knowledge, research and connections created and shared by each of its business divisions. This content helps customers and specialist communities around the world work smarter, make better and more informed decisions faster, and solve critical challenges in their area.
Informa follows a four-pillar approach to sustainability: content, communities (customers and neighbors), colleagues and the environment. These pillars focus on the issues that matter most to its business and its stakeholders, and those that present growth opportunities while enabling positive change.
DJSI is maintained by S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI), a leading global index provider, and RobecoSAM, an investment specialist focused exclusively on sustainability investing. Launched in 1999, the DJSI World represents the gold standard for corporate sustainability and is the first global index to track the leading sustainability-driven companies based on RobecoSAM's analysis of financially material environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and S&P DJI's robust index methodology.
