NEW YORK—The Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation Program (ERSP) released its findings of a review of certain ad claims made in online advertising by Natural Factors Nutritional Products, Coquitlam, British Columbia. ERSP, part of the National Advertising Review Council (NARC) looked at performance claims, comparative claims and testimonials, finding certain claims for its PGX product were substantiated (“control and balance blood sugar” and “improves syndrome X”). Others (“maintained lean muscle mass” and certain testimonials) it recommended the company modify to more accurately reflect the state of the science or whether the testimonials reflect a consumer’s typical experience.
