FSANZ Seeks Comments on Permitting Health Claims for Food
CANBERRA, AustraliaFoodStandards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) called for public comment on a newpolicy that would allow health claims on food products. The new policy wouldchange the current policy that forbids health claims on food that refer to aserious disease or condition, such as reduces your risk of heart disease.
FSANZ (www.foodstandards.gov.au) will issue a draft standardin May 2005 and seek additional comments, resulting in a final standard to becompleted by December 2005.
