Health Canada OKs Sunfiber as Dietary Fiber Source
June 6, 2013
MINNEAPOLISTaiyo International announced Health Canada has approved its Sunfiber® partially hydrolyzed guar gum ingredient for use as a dietary fiber source based on clearly demonstrated safety and clinical evidence that the addition of Sunfiber results in more than 20% reduction in postprandial blood glucose levels.
Sunfiber is an all-natural, versatile, soluble powder that can easily be added to a wide variety of foods, beverages and supplements without impacting the flavor, color, texture or aroma. Sunfiber is certified Kosher, 100% gluten-free, vegetarian and non-GMO. It is low in viscosity, improves stability of beverages at various pH levels, and is resistant to heat, acid and digestive enzymes.
In addition to its blood glucose benefits, Sunfiber improves absorption of minerals, such as calcium, iron, zinc, and aids protein utilization. Sunfiber has strong prebiotic characteristics that stimulate health-promoting indigenous bacteria like Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. Sunfiber offers a more comfortable, healthy satiety effect. It does not block" the gut, but instead, slows the gastric transit time, allowing the release of satiation inducing hormones, resulting in a comfortable state with reduced hunger cravings.
