Danisco Expands Chinese Operations To IncludeFlavors

NEW CENTURY, Kan.--Danisco Cultor announced salesof its emulsifiers and functional systems for the food industry are"roaring" in China, where net sales were up 100 percent last year. Dueto this sales increase, Danisco (http://ingredients.danisco.com)announced it would open a flavor factory in Kunshan, China, co-located with itsingredients factory. The factory will employ 20 people and represent aninvestment of approximately $2.5 million. Aside from flavor production, a teamwill work on research and development of flavors and flavor blends customizedfor the Chinese and other Asian markets.

In related company news, Danisco announced the acquisition ofBelgium-based flavor house Perlarom S.A., headquartered in Louvain-La-Neuve.With net sales of $44 million, Perlarom's European flavor sales rank among thetop 10 in Europe, according to Danisco, and with the acquisition, gives Daniscoa major sales position on mainland Europe.
