AAP Awarded Montana Research Grant

BILLINGS, Mont.—All American Pharmaceutical & Natural Foods Corp. (AAP) received an $80,000 grant from the Montana Department of Commerce’s Board of Research and Commercialization Technology to fund its current research project, KarboLyn.

KarboLyn is a patent-pending carbohydrate formulated to sustain energy levels for endurance and stamina during athletic endeavors. As a homopolysaccharide, it’s made up of many monosaccharides joined together by glycosidic bonds. Because KarboLyn passes through the stomach very quickly—18.21 percent faster than dextrose or sugar—it acts like a pump, pulling water and nutrients along with it.

The research study is being fielded to determine the absorption efficiency of KarboLyn versus glucose and to assess the effects on energy levels over time. In the double-blind, placebo-controlled study, participants will have their glycogen levels monitored while using a treadmill. The company anticipates reporting on and publishing the study results in 2015.

“Our goal is to set a new gold standard for research supporting sports supplements," said Jeff Golini, AAP CEO and executive scientist. “Up until now, research in this segment has been fairly casual. We’re upping the ante by using pharmaceutical research standards when fielding this study."

This is the fourth grant AAP has received from the Montana Department of Commerce in the past 10 years. The other funding was granted for the commercialization of its proprietary products - Kre-Celazine and Lyzme5. The Montana program supports local economic development by investing in research projects that present a clear path to commercialization.
