Alkano Chemicals ~ GOS 70%

LOS ANGELESAlkano Chemicals Inc. now supplies GOS (galacto oligosaccharide) 70% as its first key product in the company's prebiotic series. 

The company's purchasing and import department reported it has stocked more than 6,000 kilos of GOS 70% in its warehousing facility in Long Beach, CA.

Alkano's prebiotic category is the newest among its list of products. For the last 30 years, the company has offered more than 500 products to the U.S. nutrition industry.

 Alkano Chemicals' other key ingredient groups include vitamins, amino acids, herbal extracts and food additives.

As consumers become more aware of ingredients for digestive health and immune function,  the market for probiotic and prebiotic foods continues to grow, accounting for almost $197 million in the 52 weeks ending Nov. 24, 2012.
