Deerland Enzymes Launches Probiotic Strain De111

KENNESAW, Ga.—Deerland Enzymes presented its probiotic strain DE111™ at SupplySide West in Las Vegas.

John Deaton, the company’s vice president of technology, presented on the benefits of adding a spore-forming probiotic strain to complement non-spore strains when formulating a probiotic supplement for digestive and immune health. Deaton also explained the genome sequencing and clinical results of Deerland Enzymes’ particular strain of the probiotic spore, Bacillus subtilis.

“DE111 is a classic Bacillus subtilis strain that supports the normal proliferation of beneficial bacteria and crowds out other bacteria in the gut," Deaton said. “Bacillus subtilis has the ability to form spores that protect the microbes from harsh conditions until they enter a more favorable environment, such as the GI tract. Because of this spore-forming ability, DE111 remains viable under a wide temperature range and doesn’t require refrigeration."

Earlier this year, Deerland Enzymes added glass-bottling services to its enzyme-based supplement manufacturing capabilities.
