RIMOUSKI, QuebecInnoVactiv entered into an agreement with Life Extension® to supply InSea2 for the newly launched Natural Glucose Absorption Control, a formulation developed to slow the rate of complex and simple carbohydrate breakdown and glucose absorption.

InSea2 exhibits a dual mechanism of action against digestive enzymes involved in carbohydrate digestion and assimilation. It is an optimized blend of polyphenols derived from two species of brown seaweed. As one of the key ingredients in the Natural Glucose Absorption Control formulation, InSea2 selectively targets digestive enzymes involved in carbohydrate digestion and diminishes the metabolic impact following a high-glycemic index (GI) meal.

InSea2 has demonstrated potent inhibiting effects against both alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase enzymes. By consuming InSea2 and targeting these enzymes, the rate of carbohydrate digestion and absorption can be significantly slowed, potentially reducing the caloric impact of foods rich in starch and sugar.

We are always satisfied when we can help our customers, like Life Extension, develop products by using ingredients such as InSea2" said Scott Steil, president of Nutra Bridge, the exclusive U.S. distributor of InSea2.

In a randomized double blinded, placebo-controlled crossover human clinical trial led by the Institute of Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods of Laval University, Quebec, InSea2 produced a statistically significant 48 percent decrease in the normal glycemic response that follows ingestion of a standardized meal (white bread, P=0.046) in 23 healthy volunteers. InSea2 also induced a 22-percent reduction in initial insulin production (P=0.045) and an overall 12 percent reduction in the area under the curve of the insulin response (P=0.031). It also improved insulin sensitivity by 8 percent (Cederholm index, P=0.047) after a single use of the product.

Today, more than 40 million Americans struggle to maintain healthy blood sugar and insulin levels. Our goal is to provide consumers with best in class options for helping them manage their postprandial blood sugar levels already in normal range. Natural Glucose Absorption Control is another tool to assist our customers in achieving optimal health," said Rey Searles, director of marketing, Life Extension.
