LAS VEGAS—Lallemand Health Solutions (SupplySide booth 34077) introduced its new portfolio of custom-made probiotic solutions for women’s health, consisting of probiotic strains and formulation know-how to design specific solutions within three major areas: feminine health, everyday women’s health and age-specific women’s health.
Women express specific health and well-being concerns at each stage of their lifecycle, such as urogenital infections, digestive discomfort, and also lower natural defenses or mood disorders. Most of these issues have one parameter in common: they can be linked to endogenous microfloras. As a natural and well-recognized way to help maintain and restore the digestive and vaginal microfloras, probiotics can support women’s health in a natural way.
Lallemand Health Solutions’ scientists selected a range of strains, mainly of the Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria species, whose properties and modes of action are particularly relevant to support different aspects of women’s health, which are backed by clinical data. This unique range of probiotic strains can be formulated into adapted formats, such as capsules (oral or vaginal), convenient orodispersible sticks for active women, sachets to dissolve in drinks or food, and more.
Potential applications cover three major areas:
Feminine health: The vaginal microflora plays an essential role in feminine health. Infections such as bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis or urinary tract infections, are often linked to unbalanced vaginal microflora, and are very common in women. Specific probiotics of the Lactobacillus species from Lallemand Health Solutions’ portfolio can help prevent the recurrence of these infections. Contrary to antimicrobial treatments, probiotics have no side effects, don’t eliminate other beneficial bacteria, and do not favor antibiotic resistance.
Everyday women’s health: Hormone fluctuations during the menstrual cycle are well-recognized parameters impacting women’s general health and wellness. Three health areas are particularly recognized targets for probiotics: gastrointestinal (GI) discomfort, immunity and mood disorder.
Age-specific health: At each stage of their life, women experiment specific health and well-being conerns, linked to hormonal and physiological changes. Hence, probiotic strains have been selected to address the specific issues of the child-bearing age, pregnancy and menopause.
