ZEIST, Netherlands—In a study led by WJ Pasman, Ph.D., long-term supplementation (30 g/d or 45 g/d) of NUTRIOSE FB® (from Roquette) was well tolerated. In the study, published in the European Journal of Nutrition (60:1024-1034, 2006), gastrointestinal reactions to this soluble dietary fiber were recorded. Complaints were few and did not differ from those of the placebo group. No diarrhea was reported, fecal characteristics (pH and enzyme activity) were positively affected by NUTRIOSE, and body weight remained stable.
