Open Wide! It's Time To Talk About Digestion...

If you think about it, digestion--good, bad, and in-between--is something that affects all of us. A lot of us eat poorly or like convicts on the lam, and that has serious repercussions. Repercussions that are probably best left to the imagination. Actually, let's not imagine anything at all.

Dr. Andrew Weil expressed the bigger problem behind digestion in a 2011 column for The Huffington Post. (I'm not going to make a habit of regularity citing from her, but since it's Dr. Weil. I'll make an exception): 

One in ten Americans was prescribed at least one GI medication on an outpatient basis in 2007 (the most recent year for which figures are available) compared to 1 in 15 in 1997. Such medications often do more harm than good -- masking imbalances that can lead to more serious conditions, and causing numerous side effects, including lower B12 levels, increased risk of fractures and even increased risk of infections. """""""

That's something, huh? It's a good thing that the supplement industry has a ton of safer, less intense options available as part of a healthy lifestyle.
