UAS, Valensa, Parry to Combine Probiotics, Spirulina

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.UAS Laboratories Inc., Valensa International and Parry Nutraceuticals have joined to launch Probiogreen, a new product that combines DDS® probiotics and organic spirulina at Expo West in March 2011. Probiogreen will be available as a finished product or as a raw material. Possible applications include, supplement powders, smoothie mixes, beverages and supplements. The recommended dose is contained in 1/4 teaspoon (1 g).

Parry spirulina has received GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for its Arthrospira platensis which is produced in accordance with cGMP (current good manufacturing procedures) and is certified organic by USDA NOP, Naturland-Germany, Ecocert-France, OCIA-IFOAM standards.

Spriulina, a microscopic aquatic organism, has a long history of human consumption, and tests have shown spirulina can stimulate the growth of lactobacillus. The health benefits are widely researched and show promise in many age-related health conditions like age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, neurodegenerative disorders and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
