Antioxidants and Exercising While Sick

HELSINKI, Finland--Antioxidants do not appear to help with exercisewhen someone is sick with a cold. In the November edition of Medicine &Science in Sports & Exercise (35, 11:1815-20, 2003) (www.ms-se.com),researchers evaluated the immunocompetence of male smokers during exposures tothe common cold. It appeared that vitamin E nor beta-carotene reduced the riskof the common cold and, in fact, increased the risk when coupled withheavy exercise.
