Chitosan Oligosaccharides May Benefit Diabetics
WONJU, KoreaChitosanoligosaccharides appear to have a beneficial effect against diabetes and relatedcomplications, according to Kunpoong Bio Co. Ltd. (http://kpbio.com), whichcited research published in the August Biological & PharmaceuticalBulletin (26, 8:1100-3, 2003). The animal research demonstrated a19-percent reduction in fasting glucose levels, as well as increased glucosetolerance and glucose-inducible insulin expression with chitosanoligosaccharides supplementation. Additional findings showed the supplementbenefited circulatory health by decreasing cholesterol levels and signs ofdiabetic cardiomyopathy.
