HAIFA, IsraelIn a study published in Phytomedicine, Frutarom Health's olive leaf extract Benolea® demonstrated cardiovascular support benefits inspired by the healthy Mediterranean diet (Phytomedicine. 2011 Feb 15;18(4):251-8).

Researchers discovered Benolea proved efficient in lowering elevated blood pressure levels and influenced the lipid profile. The study consisted of a comparison of Benolea to a blood pressure lowering pharmaceutical in participants with mildly elevated blood pressure.

Cardiovascular support benefits included healthy cholesterol levels, healthy blood sugar levels, and coronary and vascular protection. Olive oil is currently known as one of the best health ingredients in the Mediterranean diet. The olive leaf also has essential natural compounds, such as oleuropein and polyphenols.

"It reflects the essence of the Mediterranean diet, delivering in an all-in-one ingredient cardiovascular health benefits," said Yannick Capelle, product manager for Frutarom Health.

Frutarom Health Solutions announced last December its integration into the Latin American market, serving the functional foods, dietary supplements, pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets.
