Cactus Botanics ~ Chondroitin Sulfate

SHANGHAI, China—Cactus Botanics is now offering chondroitin sulfate, which help relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

Chondroitin sulfate is a chemical extracted from chicken, bovine or shark cartilage. It supports joints, eyes and the heart, and also helps with pain relief and healthy blood lipid levels.

General manager Carol Cheow said sodium hexametaphosphate has been discovered in some chondroitin sulfate material, which is normally used in detergent or water treatment agents, but is unsafe as a food additive.

Cactus Botanics uses four different methods to ensure its product quality and safety: high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), a qualitative test; CPC, a purity test; EHPLC, a method that is only done in a few factories worldwide; and specific rotation, which finds the absolute configuration of a molecule.
