LA GRANGE, Ill.—Cognis Nutrition & Health will present healthy ingredients designed to maximize nutritional value while preserving taste, appearance and texture of foods and beverages at Booth #2971 at the 2006 IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo in Orlando, Fla.

Products slated for exhibition include the company’s line of Vegapure® plant sterol ingredients, now GRAS (generally recognized as safe) for a broader range of foods and beverages and recently expanded to include free sterol ground powder and three new non-genetically modified (GM), IP-preserved sterols and sterol esters, as well as a new addition to its Xangold® lutein ester line, designed for use in food and beverage formulations where quick and easy dispersal of the active ingredients is preferred. The company will also highlight its Spongolit® aerating emulsifiers, designed to improve stability, volume and structure of baked goods; as well as recent research on its Tonalin® conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).

In other company news, Cognis has entered into an agreement with WILD to jointly develop new products and systems and combine marketing and sales efforts. In particular, the companies will focus on the beverage, nutritional bar, sweets and ice-cream industries, and Cognis ingredients will be incorporated into WILD’s flavor systems and fruit preparations.

Norbert Weitkemper, director strategic business development, nutrition & health, for Cognis (www.cognis.com), said: “The combination of WILD’s formulation expertise and Cognis’ broad range of ingredients is a perfect strategic match. As a team we will be able to develop and market new solutions effectively, and cover a wide range of consumer needs in the field of health and functional ingredients.”
