Pycnogenol, CoQ10 Combo Promotes Cardiovascular Wellness

HOBOKEN, N.J.The combined antioxidant effects of coenzyme Q10(CoQ10) and pine bark extract (as Pycnogenol®, from Natural Health Science[www.pycnogenol.com]) benefit the cardiovascular system, according to a reviewpublished in Evidence Based Integrative Medicine. The analysis was basedon clinical trials involving CoQ10, Pycnogenol and the combination of the twocompounds.

CoQ10 supports healthy heart and blood vessel function through itsantioxidant effects; Pycnogenol contains antioxidant proanthocyanidins and helps to maintainhealthy capillaries. Joint research conducted at Showa Medical University of Tokyo, Japan, and theState University of New York, Buffalo, indicates co-action of Pycnogenol andCoQ10 protects 53 percent of blood lipids from oxidation as opposed to less than30 percent as individual ingredients and work in synergy to protect and enhancethe entire vascular system including blood vessel integrity, blood lipid values, circulation, blood pressure and platelet function.

With millions of Americans suffering from heart and stroke problems everyday, the need for natural alternatives to help support cardiovascular health andreduce risk factors has been on the rise, said Ronald Watson, Ph.D., leadauthor of the review. In the prevention and treatment of disease, two or moredietary supplements when working in harmony should be more effective than eachindividual alone. That is the case, based on the extensive research collected, for Pycnogenol and CoQ10. This survey of medical literature conducted on bothingredients strongly suggests that Pycnogenol and CoQ10 is a seamlesscombination for improvement of all major cardiovascular ailments.¡Biologically, the mechanisms of both ingredients work in synergy because oftheir powerful antioxidant effect.
