African Herbal Pharmacopoeia Set for Release
October 31, 2008
CAPETOWN, South Africa—The African Association of Medicinal Plant Standards (AAMPS) will release the first AAMPS-African Herbal Pharmacopoeia during the fourth World Congress of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, to be held here Nov. 9 to 13. AAMPS has been working for three years with five African and European universities and 17 researchers from 12 countries to develop the pharmacopoeia; the project received financial support from the EU-ACP Centre for Development of Enterprise and PRO-INVEST.
Each of the 52 monographs in the African Herbal Pharmacopoeia provides comprehensive and updated botanical, phytochemical and commercial information on the individual species. The monograph information will also be updated and expanded via the AAMPS Web site.
