RENO, Nev.—A study presented at the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American College of Nutrition here reported that Garli-Eze®, developed by Nutra Products Inc., delivers large amounts of allicin, a key bioactive ingredient in garlic to the body in amounts equal to that of fresh high allicin garlic macerate.

Larry D. Lawson, Ph.D., chief scientist of the Plant Bioactives Research Institute in Orem, Utah, reviewed the study and stated, “What is important here is that this study is the first to independently confirm the ability of a garlic powder capsule to provide the same amount of allicin that would be obtained from an equivalent amount of fresh, raw garlic.” Lawson was the lead author of a 2005 research article, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, that validated a method to determine allicin absorption in humans.
