Clemson University Studying Medicinal Herbs

COLUMBIA, S.C.--Clemson University (www.clemson.edu) established the Nutraceutical Research Institute to coordinate research across South Carolina to develop commercial sources of several medicinal herbs, including feverfew and valerian.

According to The State newspaper, companies including Triarco, Westvaco and Leiner Health Products operate facilities in South Carolina that process and ship herbal products. Those behind the new venture hope farmers will grow medicinal herbs to sell to these companies.
