EDISON, N.J. Litchi seed is the foundation of Replenne, a new dietary supplement and cosmeceutical product from HerbaKraft (www.herbakraft.com). Litchi seed, part of the soapberry family, contains saponin, tannin, leucocyanidin, anthocyanin and other active polyphenols, which exhibit free radical-scavenging capabilities. The seed has been found to inhibit the activity of collagenase, hyaluronidase and elastase, thereby preventing fine lines and wrinkles, promoting skin rejuvenation, and preventing hyperpigmentation from excess skin melanin.

HerbaKraft also introduced kiwi powdered extract and kiwi oil for cosmeceutical and food applications. Kiwi oil is rich in omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFAs), alpha-linolenic acid, and natural tocotrienols and tocopherols. In-house research from HerbaKraft indicates kiwi may address acne by preventing the generation of dihydrotestosterone and bacterium lipase. The tocotrienols may also lower cholesterol and prevent hardening of the arteries.
