Basil traditionally has been used in the treatment of colds,cough, asthma, fevers, dyspepsia, liver disorders, and in the prevention ofinfluenza. Active constituents of Tulsi Basil include ursolic acid, which iscredited for a number of activities of particular importance to the herb.
The anti-inflammatory activity of ursolic acid is well-knownand attributed to the inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2).
