Enzymotec Patents AMIET Technology

MIGDAL HAEMEQ, Israel--Enzymotec receivedconfirmation (No. 8537) from the U.S. Patent & Trademark office informingthe company its AMIET technology has been awarded a patent. Enzymotec filedfor the patent on AMIET (Activation Modification Immobilization EnzymeTechnology) in 1999.

According to the company, AMIET enables a wide range of regularand specialty enzymes to perform in non-aqueous media with high activity andrecyclability without losing specificity or selectivity. "[It] allows us tosignificantly improve quality and cost performance of chosen products,"said Sobhi Basheer, founder of Enzymotec and inventor of AMIET. "It alsoallows us the proprietary feasibility to create novel products altogether."

The first product Enzymotec developed with the new technology isMultOil. The family of multi-functional oils are based on any natural oilenriched with phytosterols and diglycerides (DAG) to reduce the risk of coronaryheart disease.
