LAS VEGAS--Indena launched Polinacea, a newimmunomodulating herbal product, during the recent SupplySide West trade showhere. Obtained through a patent-pending extraction procedure from the roots of Echinaceaangustifolia (E. angustifolia), Polinacea is characterized by triplestandardization for echinacoside, IDN 5405 and isobutylamides. Indena (www.indena.com)cultivates selected species of E. angustifolia and uses food solvents in itsextraction process to contain IDN 5405 (a unique high molecular weightpolysaccharide), as well as the low molecular weight polysaccharide inulin.Studies in mice have shown the ability of Polinacea to improve immune responsewith no toxicity in LD-50 examinations.
