DES MOINES, Iowa--Kemin Foods (www.keminfoods.com),based here, has been granted a patent from the European Union Patent Office for its luteinpurification process used in production of its FloraGLO Lutein. "This patent gives usthe same proprietary position on the manufacturing process for purified lutein crystalsthat we have in the United States," said Rodney Ausich, president of Kemin.

The patent, #0672655, is titled "A process for isolation, purification andrecrystallization of lutein from saponofied marigold oleoresin and uses thereof."Kemin Foods is an international manufacturer and marketer of specialty ingredients andnutritional additives.
