Legislation for Naturopathy

WASHINGTON--Bills to regulate the growing naturopathic industry have beenpresented in Oklahoma (SB 1590), Kansas (HB 2728), Missouri (HB 1253) and Ohio (HB562). Critics of the bills believe that they are designed to disenfranchisethousands of practicing naturopaths in favor of presenting naturopaths asprimary care physicians.

The bills include amending existing legislation to provide for the licensingand regulation of naturopathic physicians, to authorize pharmacists to fillprescriptions ordered by naturopathic physicians, and to exempt naturopathicphysicians from certain drug and controlled substance criminal laws when theirconduct is in accordance with naturopathy law.
