CARLSBAD, Calif.--Lipoid announced two additions to its line of liposomal preparations.Liposomes, tiny spherules derived from phospholipids, can be used as vehicles for nutrient delivery. ProLipo®, a technology patented to Phares Laboratories, Switzerland, and available through Lipoid, features pre-processed liposomes in free-flowing powder mixes. NutriVail™, also patented to Phares and available through Lipoid, is a technology for combining nutrients with specialized phospholipids into a mono-molecular, three-dimensional extended matrix. Each single nutrients molecule is surrounded on all sides by a number of phospholipid molecules. The phospholipids then "chaperone" each nutrient molecule into an intestinal lining cell, where it can be transported to the tissues.
