EL DORADO HILLS, Calif.--NutraCea received a Notice of Allowance fromthe U.S. Patent Office allowing 20 claims under a patent titled "Method oftreating hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis." Thepatent is expected to be issued by the end of May, and links rice branderivatives (as NutraCea's RiSolubles and Rice Mucil products) with a reducedrisk of cardiovascular diseases by inhibiting platelet aggregation.
