Pharmavite Hosts Congressional Briefing

WASHINGTONCongressional staff representing 25 members of the U.S.House and Senate attended a briefing on March 9 to learn more about dietarysupplement research and quality standards. The briefing, Nutrition Benefits& Ensuring Quality, was organized by Northridge, Calif.-based Pharmavite(www.naturemade.com) and featured threespeakers: Jeffrey Blumberg, Ph.D., from Tufts University; Joy Joseph, vicepresident of quality, product development and technical operations forPharmavite; and Steven Yannicelli, Ph.D., Pharmavites director ofprofessional education.

Carolyn Sabatini, the manager of Pharmavites government relations efforts,said the briefing underscored the companys commitment to educatinglegislative stakeholders on critical issues. Key concepts shared withattendees included the benefits of dietary supplements, the strong science thatsupports dietary supplement use, and how manufacturers canand doensurequality products for the American consumer, she said.
