June 25, 2014

One of the speakers at the recent Oxford International Conference on the Science of Botanicals (ICSB), held at the University of Mississippi, internist Pieter Cohen, M.D., Cambridge Health Alliance, tried to engage academic and supplement industry attendees on his solution to safety issues, namely the inadequacies of the adverse event report (AER) system used for supplements. Natural Products INSIDER’s Steve Myers talked to Dr. Cohen about his reasons for reaching out to the industry and how his past critical papers published in NEJM impact the response he gets from supplement industry members.
