Researcher Asks Type II Collagen Suppliersto Stop Referencing His Studies

BENICIA, Calif.--DavidTrentham, Ph.D., a Harvard researcher who has done extensive work on type II collagen, sent a letter to suppliers of denatured and hydrolyzed type II collagen asking them to not reference his work. InterHealth USA, a supplier ofUC-II™ undenatured type II collagen, currently works with Trentham on studies involving only its branded type II collagen.

According to an InterHealth release, Trentham asked suppliers to "immediately cease referencing my name, Harvard Medical School and our research on type II collagen to your product." InterHealth (www.interhealthusa.com) also noted it served notice to a supplier that its products are infringing on theUC-II product patents. "We have made a considerable investment in UC-II that will continue to grow with the cost of ongoing research," said WilliamSeroy, InterHealth's president and chief executive officer. "We are committed to vigorous enforcement of all associated rights and patents."
