Solgar Teams Up With Phytomedics

LEONIA, N.J.--Solgar Vitamin & Herb, a division of AHP/Whitehall-Robins, in mid-Mayannounced a strategic alliance with Phytomedics, a privately-held biotechnology R&Dfirm, to discover, patent and market phytonutrient compounds for use in Solgar dietarysupplements. According to Dennis O'Donnell, executive vice president and general managerof Solgar, the alliance will allow Solgar to roll out more innovative products in itssupplement line.

Phytomedics conducts research and development at Rutgers University and holds a broadresearch and licensing agreement with the university to allow the company to exclusivelylicense its core technologies and products. Its patent portfolio includes eight filed orissued patents on products and technologies. Phytomedics is headquartered in Dayton, N.J.,while Solgar is in Leonia, N.J., with a website at www.solgar.com.
