Chemi SpA Purchases Brazilian Manufacturing Plant

MILAN, Italy--Chemi SpA, the parent company of White Bear Lake,Minn.-based Chemi Nutraceuticals, purchased a manufacturing plant in Camacari,Brazil, from SmithKline Beecham. According to Chemi (www.cheminutraceuticals.com),the plant has manufactured pharmaceutical ingredients since 1984 and has beeninspected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The acquisition shouldallow Chemi Nutraceuticals to respond to North American product requests moreeasily, given the additional cGMP production capacity and plant location.
