Cognis Nears Completion of Manufacturing Facility

ROERMOND, The Netherlands--The Cognis Group (www.cognis.com)announced it has nearly completed construction on its new stand-alonemanufacturing facility for phytosterols. The plant is being built to food GoodManufacturing Practices (GMP) standards at Cognis' Boussens location nearToulouse, France. Start up is scheduled for this month, with a capacity of 1,600metric tons per year.

"We at Cognis are optimistic about the growth potential forplant-derived sterols," said Paul Allen, vice president of Cognis Nutritionand Health. "We have already developed a strong market position with thesterols produced at our facility in Kankakee, Illinois, and this additional newcapacity in the important European market will significantly strengthen ourglobal leadership position."
