Cyvex Nutrition Introduces FT-NIR Technology

IRVINE, Calif.--Cyvex Nutrition now offers an easier, more efficient method for testing nutraceuticals for quality and purity, according to the company. Michael Yatcilla, Ph.D., director of science and technology, presented the FT-NIR (Fourier Transform Near Infrared) spectrometer during the Sept. 15 International Conference and Exhibit on Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods. Instead of using a wet chemistry method, which can take two hours examining one sample, the company said the FT-NIR method can test 100 samples in that same period of time.

Cyvex uses theFT-NIR method in its own research laboratory as a part of its NutriPrint quality assurance system. The process conducts purity and identity tests, essentially taking each chemical's fingerprint, which is then compared to data in the company's reference library. TheFT-NIR equipment is manufactured by Bran+Luebbe of Buffalo Grove, Ill. For more information about this system, visit www.cyvex.com or Booth #1255 at SupplySide West.
