BOHEMIA, N.Y.--NBTY Inc. acquired certain assets of Feeling Fine Company LLC; the announcement was made on Sept. 6. Feeling Fine develops and distributes nutritional products as well as health and wellness informational programs. Its products are sold throughout the United States through major retail outlets.

NBTY has a number of brands under its corporate umbrella, including Nature's Bounty, Vitamin World, Puritan's Pride and Holland & Barrett. It markets more than 1,000 products under its various brand names.

The acquisition also heralded a new division, headed by Dave Brubaker, co-founder of Feeling Fine. Feeling Fine's other founder, Dr. Art Ulene, will continue his association with the brands.

In addition to its human health products, Feeling Fine also has a line of pet nutritionals, developed by Dr. Jeffrey Werber, which is also a part of NBTY's acquisition. No word as of yet as to whether NBTY plans to expand the pet product sector.

Regarding the acquisition and the retainer of Brubaker, NBTY chairman and chief executive officer, Scott Rudolph, said, "We are pleased about the acquisition of these well-known brands and with the opportunity to have one of its founders, Dave Brubaker, continue as president of this division."

According to Rudolph, the Feeling Fine product lines will complement and expand NBTY's existing market share. In addition, Ulene and Werber's association as spokespersons should enhance market penetration. For more information, visit www.nbty.com.
