NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--After a seven-month search, the National Nutritional Foods Association (NNFA), based here, has tapped a new executive director. David R. Seckman will assume the post in May, succeeding Michael Q. Ford, who passed away last September.

For the past 10 years, Seckman has served as vice president for regulatory affairs for the Washington-based American Health Care Association (AHCA), a federation of associations representing assisted living and nursing care providers. "We are extremely delighted to have found someone with David's abundance of management, leadership and Congressional advocacy experience to guide the association," said NNFA President Patrick Toomey.

Among Seckman's achievements at AHCA were directing a national public relations and lobbying campaign that resulted in nearly $3 billion in government funding for his industry, and initiating several actions to improve on the effectiveness of operations at the association. He holds a master's degree in health care administration from the University of Illinois and a bachelors degree in political science from George Washington University.
