nSpired Foods Acquires Cloud Nine

SAN LEANDRO, Calif.--nSpired Natural Foods acquired the assets of Cloud Nine Inc.,adding to its previous acquisitions of Loriva Supreme and Health Trip; financial detailswere not disclosed. "Cloud Nine and its sister brands, Tropical Source and Speakeasy,are a great strategic fit with our Sunspire brand bulk candies and candy bars," saidEric Zitelli, nSpired's president.

With this addition, the company reportedly controls 40 percent of the market share inthe individual snacks and candies category in the natural food industry. According to thecompany, nSpired is attempting to deliver a larger variety of natural foods at competitiveprices. "Fortune 100 companies are focusing a lot of attention lately on theprofitability of natural foods," Zitelli stated. "We see the biggerpicture--we're trying to preserve a value system and deliver healthy products to ourconsumers."
